While managing each unique generation in the workforce has its challenges, managing the “sandwich generation” may present the greatest challenge when it comes to absence management. In 2012, 42% of Generation X had a financially dependent child along with a parent over 65. In addition to absence from work due to his/her own medical condition, Generation X workers are also likely to be absent for a child’s medical condition and/or a parent’s medical condition.
