Cancer is one of the most prevalent health conditions in the U.S. and a leading cause of disability in the workplace. Medical advances have led to a higher rate of cancer survivorship, which has translated into more cancer survivors in the workplace. This creates both a challenge and opportunity for employers. By recognizing the multi-faceted challenges that employees with cancer experience through treatment and recovery, the employer can gain insight into medical and productivity challenges for employees and develop strategies that establish a culture to assist employees in remaining working, or returning to work while prioritizing a work-life balance.
