Employing People with Disabilities Online Tool Helps Build a Diverse Workforce

benchmarkability-orgIf your organization wants the business benefits of including people with disabilities in the workplace, you have a valuable new online resource in www.benchmarkability.org, currently available at no cost.

Benchmarkability.org serves several professions, including: integrated absence management (IAM), employee recruiting/retention, and workforce diversity. This area is receiving attention recently due to new affirmative action goals for federal contractors and their business partners to utilize people with disabilities as 7% of the workforce across all job categories. The new goal (and related program requirements) was added to Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act in 2014 through an executive order by President Obama.

The project to design Benchmarkability.org began six years ago, and the new Section 503 requirements were developed during that period. As Cornell’s research was finalized, results were periodically shared with the Office of Contractor Compliance Programs (OFCCP, which monitors Section 503 compliance) to support their efforts. Similarly, as OFCCP identified practices to support its regulations, Cornell has taken that into account in design of the online tool.
