While leave may be the most talked about accommodation under the ADA, there are a multitude of other types of accommodations with greater prevalence in the workplace. Adjusted work schedules or accessibility modifications are actually more frequently requested, and can provide room for creativity in accommodation. An employer’s ability to identify appropriate, reasonable, and sometimes out-of-the-box alternatives are all part of a compliant and robust accommodation process, and may even support successful return to work.
