Mission Compliance: We Are Unified

By Terri L. Rhodes, CCMP, CLMS, CPDM, MBA

CEO
DMEC

DMEC and its members are strongly unified in our desire to build compliant workplaces that address the fragmented environment of proliferating leave mandates at the federal, state, county, and municipal levels.

We have “common problems”, employers and vendors alike. We must constantly adjust to new mandates with diverse eligibility and pay schemes — paid sick (and safe) leave, paid family leave, paid medical leave, “any reason” leave, and unpaid leave mandates. And we have more options than ever in managing our leave obligations.

The continuous growth of the annual DMEC Compliance Conference is no mystery. We network, share solutions, and get answers to the challenging questions that arise each year.

Virtually all DMEC members (and nonmembers) rely on some kind of external resource(s) to carry out various aspects of their compliance effort. The list of resources is long — legal counsel, physicians, second opinions, payroll vendors, HRIS, leave software, outsourcing, etc.  We all struggle, including our vendor partners, to keep pace with the constant change of new mandates! Today, we have services that didn’t exist 10 years ago, and those services are no longer just for large employers.
