Mental health conditions are common, affecting about one in five U.S. adults,1 yet only about half of those affected receive treatment.2 The good news is that treatment works for common conditions such as anxiety and depression. Many employers are playing a key role in promoting mental health and well-being, working in the three broad areas below.

Raising Awareness, Educating, and Ending Stigma

Your organization can raise awareness and help to end stigma around common mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression through posters, intranet postings, newsletters, email alerts, health fairs, speakers, promoting May as mental health month, and more. Another resource, Mental Health First Aid3, is a training template that can be customized for employer programs.
