2020 DMEC Virtual Annual Conference: COVID-19 and the Post-Pandemic Future

The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed work and life, creating new challenges for employees and employers. As we navigate this “new normal”, absence and disability professionals are facing a myriad of questions as they work to ensure their employees’ health, mental well-being, safety, and financial security.

Wednesday, Aug. 5 | Returning Employees to the Workplace

On the first Wednesday, we will cover new work rules you need to have in place and showcase employer case studies for safe return to work. We will review EEOC pandemic accommodation guidance and discuss best practices for interactive accommodation programs. And finally, we will discuss holistic strategies for suicide management and response during these psychologically stressful times.

Wednesday, Aug. 12 | Supporting Your Workforce

On the second Wednesday, we will explore how to identify and support employees who are experiencing stress and burnout and discuss effective strategies for reducing employee presenteeism and absenteeism. We’ll also discuss the expanding burdens for women in the workforce and what employers can do to support healthy work-life balance and employee caregiving responsibilities.

Wednesday, Aug. 19 | The Legal Landscape

On the third Wednesday, we will review leave and accommodation laws that have been adopted or modified during the pandemic and discuss emerging and expected employee lawsuits in the wake of COVID-19. We will also explore the precedents employers may have set during this extraordinary time, and discuss key legal considerations for how we work, think about benefits, and make accommodations in the post-pandemic workplace.

Wednesday, Aug. 26 | Winning in the Post-Pandemic Future

On the fourth Wednesday, we will review considerations for business continuity, crisis management, and disaster recovery and explore how to design innovative and effective HR programs for the future. We’ll also discuss how to break down organizational barriers and harness the power of integrated health and productivity data to improve outcomes.

The 2020 DMEC Virtual Annual Conference will offer up to 15.5 continuing education hours for a variety of certifications and designations. Sessions will be delivered through a live video platform, and participants will have access to on-demand recordings for one year. Explore the full schedule.
