No matter how good our intentions are to be free of prejudice, we all have implicit biases that can have a serious impact on our work. In this webinar, participants explored the concept of implicit bias, and how the necessity of cultural awareness is a top priority to move beyond bias. We discussed strategies to engage in compassionate dialogue in order to address the needs of your diverse companies and communities, and developed a shared definition of unconscious bias while exploring external structures that influence and impact our beliefs. Attendees gained strategies to “interrupt” bias and “repair” the harm caused by it using the steps of “Recognize It”, “Interrupt It”, and “Repair It”, or the RIR Protocol.
