After a year of widespread lockdowns, lack of social engagement, and fears over contracting COVID-19, many employees are conflicted about returning to the worksite and are shifting their perception about what really matters.

According to MetLife’s annual U.S. Employee Benefit Trends Study,1 employees place more value on safety, protection, and preparedness than ever before, and many rely on their employers for this sense of security. This goes beyond physical protection from the virus at work, as many employees increasingly look for their employers to support their financial, mental, and social well-being, too. Indeed, nearly three in four employees (73%) feel that employers have a responsibility for their health and well-being.
