We have all felt the extraordinary effects of the pandemic. These experiences have pushed employees to change their perceptions about what really matters. Employees are placing more value than ever on protection, safety, and preparedness and are now making their own well-being a priority. To respond to these changed values, employers will need to continue to reimagine the workplace experience. Everything is being impacted from where, when, and how we work to how to support employees and make them feel secure. As employers respond, it’s important to understand there is no one-size-fits-all solution; no one approach is likely to meet the needs of all employees, nor would an overly prescriptive solution be compliant with the reasonable accommodation requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
This session outlined some of the most common post-pandemic accommodation requests we expect to see as we move into our “next normal.” We discussed how to help train your managers in the ADA interactive process and provided strategies that are both compliant and empathetic to ensure a smooth transition as you prepare to welcome employees back to the workplace.
