The compliance landscape surrounding absence and disability management is changing at a dizzying pace. DMEC’s annual compliance update webinar series is intended to help employers who might be struggling to keep up with the changes impacting their organizations. Each session in this five-part series focuses on a different region of the United States — bringing you the latest developments in circuit court decisions, legislative updates, leave and accommodation guidance, and other critical compliance news.

This webinar will cover content specific to the southern region of the United States: Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas (4th, 5th, and 11th circuit courts).

Tasos C. Paindiris is a principal in the Orlando, Florida office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He is the co-leader of the firm’s Advice and Counsel practice group and also serves as the Orlando office litigation manager. His practice concentrates on litigation and advising clients in many different areas of workplace law. Tasos' experience includes representing clients in a variety of forums, including state and federal courts, the state and federal Departments of Labor, state and local human rights agencies, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. Tasos assists employers in complying with the challenging array of federal and state laws that protect injured and ill employees, the most notable being the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. He works closely with employers to provide compliance advice and develop programs for disability, leave and absence management. Tasos is also an experienced litigator and has successfully litigated cases, including class and collective actions throughout the country, alleging wage and hour violations, wrongful termination, discrimination, violation of the FMLA and ADA, whistleblower retaliation and other employment related claims. He also assists government contractors in developing affirmative action programs (AAPs) and he represents contractors in compliance reviews by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

Joanne Braddock Lambert is office managing principal of the Orlando, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing management in employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, as well as counseling management regarding ongoing employment and labor matters. Joanne is a frequent speaker on a variety of employment law topics and conducts compliance training for management on discrimination, harassment, and managing employee leaves of absence under the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
