Thoughtfully designed and incentivized benefit programs paired with vigilant leave and accommodation compliance are critical to supporting employee health and wellness. The pandemic restricted access to routine healthcare, prompted delays in nonemergency treatment, emphasized challenges to work-life balance, and exacerbated feelings of isolation. And employees might just be getting back on track with treatments and services that require absences from work or flexible work schedules.

Employers — as providers of health and dental insurance, sponsors of employee assistance programs, and managers of leave and accommodation — should encourage employees to access the treatment they need.
