Medical Marijuana Erodes “Zero Tolerance” Federal Drug Policy

The medical marijuana movement is beginning to drive public policy in ways that may erode the federal “zero tolerance” policy against marijuana in the workplace.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is expected to announce soon whether it will reclassify marijuana from Schedule I (the most restricted drugs) to Schedule II under the Controlled Substances Act. The DEA has promised an announcement about this “in the first half” of 2016.
