Nominations for 2025-2027 Term Now Open
The DMEC Employer Advisory Council (EAC) is comprised of ten to twelve DMEC members experienced in integrated absence management (IAM). They represent DMEC employer members of various sizes, industry types, and geographical locations. EAC members are passionate about the mission of DMEC and bring a valuable collection of expertise and experience. The role of the EAC is to help guide and support DMEC in the effort to advance the absence and disability management profession through education, knowledge, and resources.

Position Details
Appointment
- Appointments will be made by the DMEC Leadership Team.
- EAC members serve a two-year term.
- Each EAC member may serve up to two terms for a total of four years of service.
- A one-year hiatus between terms is required.
Responsibilities
Conference and Membership Ambassador
- EAC members are expected to support, promote, and attend one of DMEC’s conferences in-person each year. Throughout the conference, EAC members will be prepared to assist in a variety of roles, including hosting roundtable discussions, assisting with welcoming members at various events, and introducing sessions.
- As ambassadors of DMEC, throughout the year EAC members are encouraged to seek opportunities to promote awareness of DMEC membership and programs.
DMECommunities Facilitator
- Facilitate conversations in DMECommunities online networking groups two months out of the year.
Educational Programming
- Advise DMEC on current challenges, trends, and forward-thinking topics of key interest to employer members that should be addressed through DMEC.
- Educational offerings (webinars, white papers, and publications)
- Offer expert feedback on new content being developed
- DMEC Compliance Conference and DMEC Annual Conference Programming
- Review and provide feedback/recommendations on presentation submissions
- @Work Magazine Editorial Advisory Group (optional)
- Provide content review and feedback for one or more assigned articles per issue
Member Benefits & Outreach
- Advise and assist DMEC staff in identifying and sourcing resources, including research, tools, samples, etc. that would benefit DMEC employer members and increase overall member satisfaction.
New Product Development
- Serve as a sounding board for new programs under consideration and provide feedback and recommendations for improving and growing DMEC’s products and services. Based on the EAC member’s interest and available time, serve on ad hoc subcommittees to further vet new projects or programs under consideration.
Time Commitment
EAC members agree to support DMEC by carrying out the following responsibilities:
- Actively participate in and contribute your expertise in three to four EAC meetings per year. Meetings will take place virtually and will be approximately 1.5 hours in length. One in-person luncheon will be held at the DMEC Annual Conference.
- Complete volunteer assignments for conference presentation proposal reviews and DMECommunities facilitation.
- Commit to attending either the DMEC Compliance Conference or the DMEC Annual Conference each year you serve and participate as an ambassador during the event. DMEC provides EAC members with discounted conference registration.
- Be a current member of DMEC and maintain your membership throughout your term.
Qualification
EAC applicants should meet the following qualifications:
- DMEC Employer member; Supplier members not eligible
- Five or more years of relevant experience in the development and/or administration of absence and disability programs
- Have attended at least one in-person DMEC conference within the past two years
- Have a current Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) designation
