A cornerstone of leave programs for nearly 30 years, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) offers critical coverage, but also presents a variety of administrative challenges. The June Tools & Tactics webinar, Tackling Your FMLA Challenges, explored a variety of FMLA issues including managing unscheduled intermittent leave, understanding retroactive designation, defining a family member, recertifying leaves, and employee and staff education.
In part two of the dive into the FMLA, we explored new pain points and the opportunities to diagnose their challenges, explored their impacts, and discussed how to best manage them. We investigated five next-level FMLA challenges attendees are grappling with today: the intersection of the FMLA and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), understanding federal vs. state FMLA, compliance with employee notice responsibilities, mental health and the FMLA, and tracking and outsourcing leaves. For each of these challenges, we provided a diagnosis and explored its impact.
