As employers develop new standards in health and safety, following guidelines established by relevant federal and local governments and inclusive of OSHA guidelines, it will be important to maintain compassionate and careful communications. Open dialogue with employees should occur to reinforce new safety guidelines and standards, while also providing opportunities for employees to identify individual accommodation needs. Changes may be required to business infrastructure, technology, workplace policies, workstations, and other work procedures, which may impact existing accommodations and/or require new accommodation considerations. Flexibility, creativity, and open dialogue will be key. The EEOC has published updated guidelines you may also find helpful.
