If an employee seeks to take Washington PFML to bond with a new child, the employee can do so any time during the first 12 months after the child’s birth. As long as the employee’s leave is within 12 months of the child’s birth, and the employee is eligible for Washington PFML benefits, the employee may be able to receive the PFML benefits for time off in 2020 due to bonding with a child born during 2019.
