Leave discussions often focus on employee health, pregnancy, and family care under the FMLA and state paid family and medical leave (PFML) programs. However, employers are increasingly challenged by less common, but highly sensitive, leave types, including safe leave, organ donor leave, civil air patrol leave, military leave, and other niche statutory policies.
These leave categories frequently come with nuanced eligibility rules, varying state requirements, and operational blind spots that can increase compliance risk and negatively impact the employee experience. As organizations expand across state lines and new leave protections emerge, these uncommon leave types, often considered as “edge cases”, are becoming more frequent and more complex to manage.
In this session, we’ll explore how employers can build scalable, compliant processes for administering non-traditional leave types. We’ll also discuss how modern leave management technology can streamline administration, improve visibility, and reduce the burden of manual processes.
