Do you and your workers’ compensation (WC) and short-term disability (STD) adjusters have disability management protocols in place to minimize the damage of unplanned absences? Historically, a disabling illness or injury has been tracked in particular silos based not on its impact on operational productivity, but which insurance bucket was paying the benefit — WC or STD. This division never really made sense for workforce and productivity management, but it was tolerated because “everybody does it that way.”
