Technology that streamlines claims management can help leave professionals in myriad ways including improving alignment with healthcare professionals, empowering teams to use healthcare data, and minimizing employee burden. Employers are in an ideal position to effect meaningful change by negotiating differently with vendors to develop integration points that streamline processes.

For example, employers can:

  • Ask brokers and consultants to harness their collective buying power and encourage insurance carriers and benefits administration vendors to implement application programming interfaces (APIs) that enable business partners to share data.1
  • Participate in employer groups or associations, such as DMEC, that provide member communities (consider DMECommunities’ Technology Solutions Group) to discuss technology options and suggest solutions to vendors.
