Reporting Leads to More Effective Leave Management Decisions

Leave management is a common challenge for every employer and having the right reporting in place provides valuable insight into trends as well as potential risks, and it can help justify new leave resources.

For example, a school district found that reporting on leave case counts and case management items (e.g., tasks completed) provides guidance their benefits team needs to ensure they are properly staffed to support their educators and staff, which is a priority for district leadership. Reports showed that case management tasks increased from about 9,000 to 12,000 during a three-year period, and the number of letters sent increased by 15%. One person was managing these leave requests before the team started tracking metrics and had reached maximum capacity. Reporting helped justify adding another team member to ensure the department could focus on employees.
