This year, your organization needs to have frank leadership discussions about the stressors employees face during the pandemic and how your company can support them. Your organization needs to leverage three key trends in wellness and primary care: earlier identification of mental health concerns, innovative supports, and skill training. What do your vendors and health partners offer in these areas?

Early Identification

Traditional periodic health screenings are increasingly adding questions about mental health, trauma, opioid use, and social determinants of health. While helping identify individuals who would benefit from earlier care, this also tends to normalize and destigmatize conversations about mental health. Since many people live with symptoms for 11 years before seeking mental health care,1 this is an important step in the right direction. Health plans, providers, and other health partners should track mental health and emotional well-being metrics, as changes in mental health status often co-occur or predict physical health challenges.
